Mid 80s 50 HP Johnson

I am planning on suprising my father-in-law by replacing his impeller on his fishing boat for him before he comes back from Florida in the spring.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as parts and procedure goes, based on the attached pics?

Looks like U50DTLEDC and G 03968446 for the numbers.

I don't even know what year it is. He has owned it for about 10 years and has never replaced the impeller.

Ok, according to the links provided from another thread it looks like a Sierra 18-3211 from iBoats website should work....can anyone confirm this for me before I order it?

I have watched several videos on youtube to get an idea of what to do and it all seems fairly straight forward, after getting the lower unit off. The biggest question I have is about disconnecting the shift cable, as the videos showed most manufacturers except Johnson/Evinrude, and they all seem to be slightly different. Any tips?
