I just purchased a mid 70's Chrysler 135hp outboard. Thought that it was a good deal, but now no spark, hence, no start. Any common solutions?

First see if it has a kill switch and if it does, then be certain the clip is in.

Second, check the distributor for points. If it does have points, clean and re-gap them to ,010

Third, check both red and blue wires to the CD box and/or distributor. Depending upon which ignition you have, the blue wire will either power the electric eye to signal the CD box and power the CD box electronic circuits. The red is always hot and charges the capacitors inside the box. Both wires need 12 volts.

There are two separate blue wires going to the distributor and CD box with pointless electronic distributors. BOTH must have 12 volts with the ignition switch in the start or run position.

Thanks for the reply. There is no obvious kill switch or lanyard on the dash, but to be sure, where would it come off of the motor?

look near the throttle linkage for kill switch with a wire leading from the scelenoid for the starter..
