I am considering a purchase of a mid 90s evinrude 40 hp tiller. This engine is set up for a tiller and electric start and choke. What are the pros and con of this motor. Also what is a fair price in todays market. The color of the motor seems to be a darker blue dose that corespond with the years?
All of your input will be helpful

Thank you,

Re: Mid 1990s Evinrude 40hp

I can't think of too many cons. The 40 is heavy for it's power because it's based on the same platform as the 50 and 60HP.

If it was looked after, can't go wrong. Price depends on local economy and condition. Anywhere between $900 and $2500. Huge range for condition.

Take a compression gage and test comp.

The usual dilemma is whether to continue to trust the VRO system, or just disable it and premix 50:1

Are you using it in a tiller or converting to remote app?

I sent you a private message - please check it if it's the latter - thanks.
