Microwave ran empty now no power

One of the crew members (cough cough Admiral) hit cook time not timer on the microwave and it ran empty for 30 minutes. We only noticed when it stopped. No power at all no fan, display light etc. I still have juice at the outlet and the 2 small fuses inside checked out ok. It is a GE profile xl1800 made in 2002. I am not all that comfortable tearing it down too far. Does anyone have suggestions, or is it toast?

You blew the internal thermal fuse, take the cover off and locate it, most radio shacks carry many different temp variations of this, it is easy to fix. It is not a glass fuse, it looks like a resistor with two wires coming out of it, you might have to solder it in.

Appliance Parts Pros has a pretty good parts blowup and list, but they don't list a thermal fuse. Could it be called something else?

Here is a link that show pictures of various types of thermal fuses, and I was mistaken, there are some that are glass barrel fuses, you might take a look through, then see if you can find something similar in your microwave. I know in the couple I have repaired they looked like an inline resistor.

Your site shows them. There are 2 on this unit. Can they be tested for continuity, open being bad? Edit: just tested one is good and one is bad (open circuit). Thank you for the help. You replied just in time, the wife was online picking out a new microwave...:)

I just threw out a GE micro tore it all way down, nothing dangerous inside, thyron tube is an electronic device. It was running with door open not running with door closed.
