Both the Michigan Wheel Vortex and Turning Point Hustler aluminum props use a hub system to keep prop prices down. I have trashed a few props in my time (but not lately, gone 3 years on the last one!), so the hub systems appeal to me. Also, aluminum is just fine, as I don't need the higher performance of stainless, and the possible gear case damage that can accompany a stainless prop strike.
Looking for some opinions on which is the better performing prop, Vortex or Hustler.
The prop will be used on a 90 hp 2003 Johnson that will be repowering my Bayliner. The 85 hp Force currently on the boat has a 13.5 x 19 prop, but Vortex prop selector suggests a 12.75 x 21 and Hustler suggests a 13.25 x 19 or 13.25 x 17. I think I'll start with a 19 pitch to start.
Hustler has good advertising, and claims to perform better than most OEM props, with lots of testimonials and test results to back up those claims. I don't see that from Vortex.
Any suggestions or comments are welcome!
Thanks
Mark
