Michigan Wheel Apollo, any good?

This weekend we have tried a couple of props on our boat trying to get it propped correctly. Currently we have a 3 blade powertech 17" but I was reving to aprox 6400 rpm. So I ordered a Mercury Enertia 20" and Mercury Vensura 19" four blade. The Enertia was nice but slow off the line and my rpms only hit about 5600 so I think I'll try an 18" Enertia but would like to also try another four blade but Mercury doesn't offer an 18" four blade that I can find so I was wondering about the Apollo. What do you guys think? Thanks for the advice!

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish! Why are you stuck on four-blades? And have you optimized the engine setup (engine height)?

Maybe Dhadley will come along, but I'd bet my right arm a Turbo Fusion 4-bld would do great things for the CC and great hole-shot, with good top-end.

I run an Apollo XHS 14 1/4 X 17 pitch on my 20 ft Polar CC rigged with a Yamaha F150 and found it to work very well. The stock prop (19 pitch) only gave me about 5400 RPM's WOT at its best. The 17" gives a good hole shot and has also added about 2mph to my WOT top end speed which now tachs around 5900 RPM's. IMHO, the Apollo offers one of the best bang for the buck alternatives in the SS prop arena.

Yep, you're right Kenny. The Fusion 4 and the Ultima 4 continue to amaze me. I attended a "prop party" last weekend where we ran all kinds of boats with all kinds of props. Most were flats boats and bay boats (a couple bass boats) and they all ran well with the Turbo Ultima 4's.

One boat I was involved in was a 18' Mako flats boat with a carb'd 150. It ran 51.9 at 5800 with a Lightning but 53.3 with an Ultima 4.

I know it's unusual for a 4 blade to have that much overall lift but they do. They also ran the best on all the 22 Pathfinders. We ran 22' PF's with everything from a 150 4 stroke to the 250 HPDI's. The holeshot and load carring ability of the Ultima 4 is amazing. On some of the faster PF's the Lightning might have been a tiny bit faster but the Ultima 4 wouldn't lose as much with a load of people.

I sure wouldn't overlook a Fusion or an Ultima when propping out anything.
