Does anyone have access to the manual? I have to replace my Cyl head and need torque specs for the bolts. Also really need to understand the head and crankshaft alignment marks, if you may have insights on that. THANK YOU.

Head gasket specs are max 30 NM (Newton Meter) for all bolts in 3-10 NM independent adjustments, that's : 10-20-30 NM adjustments till final 30 NM is reached., follow bolt torque sequence as follows :

9-10
5-6
1-2
4-3
8-7

What do you need to know about timing plate marks and power head mating surfaces ?

THANKS! I don't know proper alignment orientation of the crank and camshaft. Crank has an unlabeled TDC line when pointed toward the rear. The cam pulley has other unlabeled marks.

I opted to buy the manual. Thanks very much. I bought an engine that the owner had broken a piece of the cylinder head on ($175 for the motor)... and he also broke the camshaft by trying to pry off the drive gear. I foolishly thought based on the parts pics that the head came pre-assembled with valves and camshaft. That was just me being dumb. Anyway, I now need to pull and hopefully reuse the valves and hardware, but need a camshaft. That's another $250 new. Anyone know where a used one can be obtained?

2003 MFS18B2 motor does not even appear in the parts books... Starts in 2006 but I know mine is a 2003.

The 18B went into production about 2000 or maybe 01. The first Factory parts catalog I have for the 18B2 was printed in 04. But it really isn't important for servicing a Tohatsu/Nissan outboard; The model/serial is the important thing, rather than the year of manufacture (unlike cars). The 18 is the big brother of the 9.9B and 15B. In later years, the 18 was dropped altogether, being replaced by the larger-block 15/20C. In our shop, we would use a new cam... you want the 3V9070100M cam for the 18, not one for a 9.9 or 15. If the PO broke the cam, he may have damaged the gearbelt pulley; It would be prudent to get a new 3H8100622M as well. Use loc-tite on the bolt, and torque it correctly.
