Metal temp of heads on a Merc V6 ??

Does anyone know what range of temperature to expect for heads on a V6 Merc?

I think the temp switch will trigger an alarm at 240 degrees. Does this mean any temp between 142 degrees (temp when T-stats open) and 240 degrees is acceptable?

Thank you.

Re: Metal temp of heads on a Merc V6 ??

I recently installed a temp gauge on my Merc 150 V6 and replaced/rebuilt the water pump at the same time. The temp gauge reads around 150 degrees at idle and drops to about 130 degrees at WOT. I consider these temps as "normal" and if I were to see the temp readings go higher on the guage, I would be concerned that there is a problem. The below thread discusses this further and may be of help to you.
