A Spanish bullfighter is likely to suffer facial paralysis and lose the sight in one eye after a terrifying goring, the hospital treating him said Saturday. Television images showed the moment when the bull's left horn ripped into Juan Jose Padilla's lower jaw to emerge beside his protruding eyeball as spectators in the northeastern city of Zaragoza screamed in horror.

Is it just me that cheers for the bull when they actually get ahold of these guys?

I hate when that happens. ;)

Sometimes in an unfair fight, the underdog opponent still wins.

Bullfighting stinks.

EXACTLY and mscher you've got the right idea. Except I am sure they killed the bull at the end of the day, so he lost.

I ALWAYS root for any animal that is being hunted by a "sportsman" with their high powered rifle, with a scope, from a jeep, 1000 yards away. So bullfighting is a million times worse!

Good for the bull! Sadly the bull I am sure was still killed. It amazes me how many people don't realize that they are truly stabbing these bulls to death. Never going to change though, this dates back to far.

I didn't realize this until I was an adult. The first time I heard about the matador getting the bull's ears as a trophy, I thought for sure they were mistaken and really meant his horns. But alas I did some follow-up and found out they killed the bull each time. Disgusting.

Went to my first bullfight on my honeymoon along with many American visitors. Most were not aware of the details and were horrified. Many left immediately. My wife jumped out of her seat and cheered when the bull trampled two assistants in the ring. I appreciated the tradition but was uncomfortable watching. What amused me most was the sponsor on the side of the flatbed that carted off the bull: MCDONALDS

Sometimes you're the one who does the goring, sometimes, you get gored. It is why it is a "sport". Bullfighters lose sometimes. He knew the risks, he lost.
I don't hate the culture of bullfighting, but I wouldn't waste my time to watch the cruelty. I would never suggest they change their culture. That is their choice, not mine. It sounds like the same fervor when a dog dies in the Iditarod. The animal rights people want it all to stop. Why can't we let those who enjoy their lives and their cultures, alone? Why do we have to force our idea of right and wrong on others, who just don't or ever will agree?
I think PETA and Friends of Animals are far more shameful and disgusting than dog mushing or bull fighting.
My opinion. :p

No one here said we should try to stop it. We all are saying, "good for the bull!" I hope every matador gets gored and permanently disabled. Can't change my culture, I want bad things to happen to bad people!

Guys, this thread is gone if we continue discussing animal rights and cultural differences . . . ;)

Everything I have ever seen about dog-sledding, the dogs apear to be having a good time and love what they do. Fighting bulls never appear to be enjoying themselves.

A bull is tortured before a cheering crowd and then killed.

I'm with PETA on this one. Not so with the sled dogs.

Yes, I agree. From what I have seen in documentaries made by dog experts, those dogs have an innate desire to pull things.

+1 for the bull, even if he didn't make it to see another day.

A 24-year-old man from Brentwood was killed Sunday when he was thrown from a bull and trampled during a rodeo event in Hopewell, N.J., New Jersey State Police said.

Rigoberto Flores was transported to the South Jersey Healthcare-Regional Medical Center in Vineland , where he was pronounced dead at 7:40 p.m., state police spokesman Sgt. Julian Castellanos said.

Police said Flores was participating in a rodeo at Dutch Neck Village, a shopping area, when he was thrown from a bull he was riding.

Castellanos said the incident remains under investigation and said he did not know if the event was a rodeo competition or a promotional event and did not have any other information regarding Flores available.

A woman who identified herself as the office manager at Dutch Neck Village said Monday that ownership would have no comment on the incident.
