merr 4.3 mpi verses merc 5.0 tks verses volvo penta 5.0 gl

Hi all, just want to see what you guys think between theses engines , they all are about the same hp, except the 4.4 is v6 injected, would be safe to say that the performance of the v6 injected would be the same as the 2 v8 carburated, as i am getting the 4.3 mpi and i am second guessing my decision on the boat i ordered, (monterey 204 fs), will the hole shot and top speed be comparable with these engines

Top speed should be about the same, but if you're after hole-shot, go a V8. The 4.3MPI is great on fuel but doesn't have the same sort of low end torque. It will also depend on the exact configuration of the boat. Remember that the 4.3 is 37kg (81lb) less than the 5.0....

Go with the V8, I love mine.

Thanks, i just wanted to see if the boat wiill be dog, with few people, I know its lighter then 5,0, I jjst wanted to compare, unfortunaley the only option is 5.0 mpi with cats avialable which will be expensive, the older models offered in 5.0 but not any more its 4.3 mpi or 5.0 m/pi w/cats
