Mercusier 3.7 no spark

I have a 3.7 mercrusier in my boat think its an 82. Pre alpha drive. What would cause it to have no spark. It has a new coil and selinoid. At the coil i am getting 12 volts. It has a new cap and rotor and all the points in the distibutor were cleaned and look good. It does not seam like i am getting any spark out of the coi. Please help thanks

Ayuh,..... Go back to the points,..... file 'em, 'n reset 'em,...... the points fire the coil,.......

To check the points, key off, put your meter on ohms , 1 lead to ground, 1 lead to the neg coil post, crank engine. Meter should pulse. If not the points are not making contact or incorrectly adjusted or the points are grounded out
