Need advice I have a mercury 175hp 1984 blackmax 2 stroke when you put it under load it sounds like it cavitates and revs out easy but with no forward thurst just revs, when you back right off and dont have it under load it will slowly move forward as long as it not under much load.

Ayuh,... It sounds like the prop's Hub is stripped out....

Scribe a line across the face, under the nut, Run it, then look to see if the line moved...
If so,... Replace the prop, or have it Rehubed...
