I have a 1992 150hp XR4 and was running yesterday during a tournament about 3500rpm's when it started to make a knocking noise. I backed off and shut it down. Turned the key over again and nothing. Sounded like it was locked up. The noise sounded like it was coming from the top of the motor but when I got home I had milky gear oil coming from the foot. Apparently the seals in the foot are bad but wonder what the sound was. Any ideas?
