I have a 90hp merc, 6cyl with 3 inline carbs. It's in the 80's but not sure. It runs terrific at higher rpm's but stalls when idle. If I hit the electric choke in time i can save it from stalling. Carbs are clean and adjusted well, but I do have leaks around the throttle shafts. I,m not sure if housings are worn or the shafts. There aren't any seals to change. Could this be the reason and if so how can I remedy it without buying all new carbs? Please help, its really hard trying to dock not being able to keep running.

How about if you try a test ,put some heavy grease around the shafts see if it helps the idle.
If so you could try a little cob job.put an O ring around the the shaft where it comes out of the carb. You may be able to rebush the carbs.
Hopefully their not worn so bad you cant get them to idle right. The way to tell is if you spray WD-40 around the suspected leak when its running and the RPM's change. I've done this on cars and other motors and it works great. I found a snowmobile carb had a cracked intake with this easy test. If it is worn and assuming your carb plate is aluminum you can have it welded and re drilled. I've had many carbs welded for worn float towers. It should work equally good for your situation.

YOU MIGHT ALSO CHECK THE FUEL FILTER IN THE FUEL PICKUP TUBE IN THE TANK IF YOUR BOAT IS EQUIPPED WITH ONE.
