I hear rumors that much of these two brands are made at the same plant. Is this true? Does Yamaha have a working relationship with Mercury to produce some models, parts, or partial assemblies of outboards? If so why would one motor be necessarily better than the other? Why would one sell for $1000 - $2000 more for similar horsepower?
