I am going to be buying a new 90 HP outboard I am thinking of either a Johnson or Merc.(2 cycle) I am wondering what everyone Favors, pros/cons etc. Also does any know of changes in the last couple of years, or if I find a new "non-current" should I buy it?

Re: Mercury vs. Johnson

hello floatinginMN, I just recently posted a similiar post (is a new V4 better than a inline four cylinder) which applies to your exact question. Check it out, down a little ways on this page!!! GOOD LUCK

Thanks, I read it...WOW! (I am going to get a two stroke.) The Merc page I was looking at lists the 90hp merc as an inline 3 cycl. and Johnson shows v4. I would imagine that puts Johnson, one (or more) points ahead already.

Be sure and check into warranty coverage and parts supply/dealer support on the two makes. Since OMC's buyout, Bombardier may have changed the rules a bit.
