I'm trying to add a trim gauge to my 1997 75hp merc and have no clue where to look for trim sending unit. Where would that rascal be located?

Thanks

Re: mercury trim sender unit location

It should be located (if looking at the back of the motor) on the left side. Trim the motor all the way up and look where the center trim cylinder connects to the motor at the top. The trim sender is mounted to the end of the pin that holds the cylinder to the motor. It is black and has two screws that mount it to the side of the motor bracket. There is also a wire that is mounted to one of the screws (ground wire) and the other one has a black plastic wrap that goes to the motor harness for the gauge. Hope this helps.

PS If you use the motor in salt forget replacing it they don't last long. Very poor design!!!

Thanks...I'll look there. I do use in salt so maybe I'll forget the whole thing.
