Hello,

I have a 1994 Merc 90 HP. While on the water it began bogging down like it was running out of gas, so I pulled in to the bank. After finding it had plenty of fuel I tried to start it back up but it wouldnt even turn over. After getting it home, I tried turning the flywheel by hand. It will turn so far in one direction then stops. I can turn it in the opposite direction and it stops in the same spot. I took the plugs out and all pistons are moving. After doing this by hand several times, it began to turn freely without stopping. So I put the plugs back in and tried to start it. It barely turned then stopped. Now I have the same results, can turn by hand only so far and it stops. Any suggestions to what could be the problem?

Thanks,
Jason

Re: Mercury Tracker Pro 90 2 stroke

I'm by no means a mechanic but I do have a 75hp Tracker by Merc that I recently picked up. It did have the oil injection system; does yours and are you still using it? Long before I picked this boat/motor up, someone had pulled all that off and I just premix. Sounds like the pistons move to a certain point and then 'stick' which could be (I hope not) a thrown rod or damaged cylinder. Best to start with a mechanic IMHO....good luck.

Sound like a powerhead or lower unit problem, drain fluid in lower unit and see it if it has large metal chunks in it....
