My tilt/trim wires on my 83 merc 50 got burnt up a few days ago when the trim switch got stuck in the up position , now i'm trying to re wire it and ran into an issue.I have the new switch installed but the wires connect to the trim motor thru a 3 prong rubber housing which the wires are burnt all the way up to , I was wondering what the rubber connector is called or if they even make a replacement ?? Thanks

Re: mercury tilt wiring question

That's part of the factory harness and likely not available separately. You have a couple choices however. Go to an auto store and look for any three + pin male/female waterproof connector. It doesn't matter if you need to buy a three terminal, four terminal or even more terminals. You only use any three of them. The other option is to head to an auto salvage yard and look under the hood for a waterproof connector. Cut it out and splice it into your harness. Or, failing either of those, you can simply eliminate the connector entirely and simply splice the three wires using water proof butt splices.

I just recently gutted a harness out of an old boat, but the plug is a two prong not a three
