Re: MERCURY TEMP PROBLEMS

It sounds like maybe a therostat. If it is like my v6 200- there is a therostat in each
cyl. bank. Change both with new o rings. Let me know if that was the problem.

It's nice that you have access to a heat gun. They can be really helpfull. Now some questions. How hot is hot to you? Are you setting off any warning horns?Where is the temp guage plumbed into? Are the temp guage and sending unit compatable? When is the last time you changed your water pump?

Re: MERCURY TEMP PROBLEMS

Hondon, thanks for response, but have already done the water pump and the housing.
also the thermostats and this started all at once, my guage use to read on the dash - 150.
Now it reads 100-125.
With the lazer temp guage, some cylinders will be as low as 120 and others will be as high as 170.
Hope you have some other ideas - could a head gasket cause the problem?
Are you familiar with a pop-it valve function?
I'll check back shortly!
