mercury serial number

hi all, new to this site and to mercury outboards, I just bought a 7.5 outboard that needs some gearbox seals and bearing. My problem is that I can`t find the serial number anywhere on any of the parts sites, It is a Canadian model and I`m from there as well lol. If anyone can help me out with this serial number, that would be awesome! from the tag and block the number reads 700443, I don`t know if there is any difference between all year but I just want to get the correct parts....... thanks guy`s very much appreciated

Welcome to iboats.

Recheck your serial number, Canadian serial numbers should be either
7 digits starting with a 7. ( 1969 thru 1985 )

Or a letter, followed by 6 digits. ( 1986 models )

The only serial numbers I can find starting with 700.... is a 1973 model.

A photo of your motor decals/colors may help.
