Really hoping to get some information on the Mercury Sea Pro 25 HP 2-strokes. I live in Alaska and can travel to Whitehorse to purchase a new Sea Pro(sounds like since it is a nonroad motor under 19kW that I can import it for personal use). But what I need to be able to do is install a jet pump conversion. Outboard Jets is about the only producer I have found of pump conversions and the Sea Pro is not listed as a make/model they produce. However the Tohatsu 25 HP 2-stroke is listed as one they do make a jet pump for and it has the same displacement as the Mercury Sea Pro. So I'm asking any Mercury Sea Pro aficionados whether they know if the Sea Pro is really a Tohatsu with a Mercury bonnet? Jet pump conversion is not cheap(~$1,500) so really hoping to shrink the level of uncertainty on this. The engineer I spoke with from Outboard Jets wasn't sure.

Thanks for any and all information in advance!

I called and spoke with one of the engineers but he really wasn't sure since he had not heard of the Mercury Sea Pros. I'm under the same impression that Specialty Manufacturing(Outboard Jets) is the only producer of jet pumps. I will try calling again but still hoping to hear back from anyone familiar with these Sea Pros/Tohatsu's. All the specs I'm reading between the two motors pegs the motor as the same...

If you are ordering a new motor I think
you can order a 25HP EFI with a jet pump
already on it.
That's interesting about the possiblities of it being a
Tohatsu??
I've seen a lot of mercurys by yamaha.

I've looked into the 4-stroke EFI Mercury Jet and it looks like a very nice motor. Mostly the turnoff for me is the weight, 187lbs for the 4-stroke w/ jet vs. the 112lbs for the Sea Pro(+ maybe 12 pounds for the jet addition). Another plus would be having both lower units for swapping them out while working my way into the bush. I did find the manuals for both the Sea Pro and Tohatsu 2-strokes online and the full outboard specs. between the two are identical in every measurable way...

You will need a boat with a 20 inch transom to run that jet. Swapping lower units from jet to prop is not the easiest thing to do in the bush. Linkage.?????

Yeah a tiller outboard jet is new to me and will have to figure out the linkage situation and how the gate control will mount, guessing it will mount onto the transom, so I'll have to figure that one out. I run larger boats for my job so I'm only accustomed to remote steering setups. The inflatable boat has a 15" transom so I will build up the transom height the ~6 inches that is required.
