Hi everyone,
I purchased a used Mercury 150 with a Quicksilver (85892) throttle control. I understand the plug in to the motor, simple. 2 questions.
1. How do I connect the other loose wires from the control and to where.
The wire colors are wire: grey, purple, brown, black & white and then black.

2. The loose wires near the engine plug in cable are: purple/white, blue/white/ brown/white and a plug with 3 prongs.

The motor and I believe the quicksilver controller are 1984 era.
Thanks, Paul

Lets try my guessing but first 2000 engine wiring harness colors.
Red power input from battery via engine distribution point
Red/Purple stripe or Purple switched (by ignition switch to ON/Start positions0 12v
Black ground input from battery via engine block/distribution point
Grey tach signal
Tan fault ground to warning horn
Black/Yellow stripe engine kill gets grounded by ignition key when turning the engine off.
Yellow/Black choke function, enrichment valve energizer
That's 8 pins for an 8 pin connector.
----------------
Outside the harness are the following and sometimes an additional tan wire is included for a dash warning light...visual indication for times you can't hear the alarm.
Blue, may have a white stripe tilt/trim up....blue sky
Green, may have a white stripe tilt/trim down....green grass

Seems you have some that might correlate...guessing the black white is engine kill....or maybe it was yellow one time and the sun bleached it out. You can test it, just put an ohm meter on it to ground and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position...should be shorted.
