I'm about to buy a Mercury Optimax 115. The boat is an aluminum dual console with a 19degrees V-shaped hull. The total weight is about 1750lbs and the length is 18.4ft. I'm going to choose an SS prop from Mercury, the prop selector on Mercury's site recommends for speed the following three props:
Laser II 3 13.250 19.0
Trophy Plus 4 13.750 19.0
Vengeance 3 13.000 18.0

Any opinions on this? I'm looking for top speed.

Thanks/Mattias

Re: Mercury props

Tempest Enertia and Mirage plus seem to be prefered in high performance boats

Re: Mercury props

Hi Mattias,

Based on my own experience, I'd avoid the Vengeance. It is not a very advanced prop, with barely any cupping, and about the same performance as a Black Max alu prop.

The Laser II can be very fast on the right boats, but I understand the Enertia can be a bit faster still. You've seen Kenny's test results at the top of this forum?

Haven't tried the Trophy, but I would think the larger diameter and fourth blade may slow you down a bit. Grip and accelleration should be good though.

For speed, there's always Stiletto/Turbo/Ballistic, but you've been there already, haven't you? :)

Hi,

AFAIK, Tempest Enertia and Mirage plus are not available under 135hp.
I know these are: Stiletto/Turbo/Ballistic, however, take a look at these test results: http://www.stingrayboats.com/products/reviews/tb03_06.html

Maybe I should try the Laser II.

Actually it's Buster XL, but I'm also looking seriously at XXL but with a 150hp. With some luck I'm selling my boat tomorrow and I'm going to buy another one as soon as possible so the the money is not wasted on crap.
