Mercury Outboards Question

Does anyone know what year Mercury went away from having a distributer? I saw an ad for a 1979 Merc 115 on E-Bay and they have pictures with the cover off and it shows a distributer. I have a 1979 140 (115 before that) and neither had distributers.<br /><br />Any help would be great. Thanks<br /><br />Craig

It must have been in late '70s, I have a '78 140 and no distributor.<br /><br />I had a 1974 1350 135hp and it did have it.
