I have a 1979 inline 6cyl. 90HP outboard motor. 900 series. the bearings in the distrubutor let go while at half throttle, I shut it down instantly and found the bearing in the motor cover. I was wondering how much something like this would cost to get repaired, I have a rebuilt distrubutor already. please help

Re: Mercury motor

I just blew a distributor on my 150 inline six. It's kind of a crapy deal, on mine the distributor is all one piece along with two berings. It is going to cost me about $300 in partd alone. Good news is that it is an easy do it your self project. If you have any info on parts like that let me know. All I run is older mercs. Tell me how it goes and tell me if you have any problems.

Re: Mercury motor

Thanks alot Matt King, I got my part from www.funtimeboats.com, they sell used parts at a good price(at least they had the part I needed) I will be trying to install the distributor in the next day or so. It's been a long time since i have worked on any type of boat motor, hopfully I'll get a break and things will go smooth for a change. I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks again and best of luck to you also!!!! YT
