Question for ya: why do some mechanics drill holes in the lower unit? my 175 has holes that are not from the factory a lot of water comes out of these while on the hose, my tell tale just trickles. and I'm wondering if these relief holes are the cuase? when I submerge the lower unit at the ramp my tell tale stream is strong should these holes appers to be four be plugged?<br /> Thanx Don

Re: Mercury Mechanics?

hello murx, drilling holes any where on the l.u. would not affect the tell tale at all, the reason you get a better stream in the lake is because you have more water available than on the hose. the water that is leaking out of these drilled holes is water that has already been thru the engine .where are these holes located any way???
