Mercury Mark 5-- aprox. YOM please?

I found in storage in the family barn a Kiekhaefer Mercury Mark 5- 5hp twin- serial number is 767487- I was told that after 1949, Kiekhaefer Corp. added the top lever bush button neutral clutch feature, which this motor has- can anyone date the aprox. year it was made in Fon Du Lac-- I may have it restored- it is currently missing the lower green cowling, and it also needs a new rubber grip on the tiller handle- good compression and spark on both plugs- Thank you

Looks like your outboard was manufactured in 1955. This site has some good info on old Mercs.

Thanks- that's about what I had guessed. Where are you in Ontario, if I can ask. I live in West Central MI, at one time I owned some swamp land acreage in Dummer Twp. near Stoney Lake, which looked to be close to Peterborough (33 Km??)

I am hoping to get some suggestions from this Forum as to where to have it restored, if the cost is within my budget- or then perhaps sell it outright "as is"- and let someone else do that--

Thanks- I 'checked it out" but as it is Canadian based and I live in MI- hard to sell my motor, should I elect to do that, shipping- dollar value between Canadian currency and ours, etc- saw some nice boats and motors for sale there though!!
