Have a 72 50 hp mercury. It is leaking gear lube from inside of the prop, on the lower unit. I put a new seal in and see no cracks. Can anyone tell me if there are any seals on the inside?
I assume you would have two seals, back to back on prop shaft (outer keeps water out, inner keeps oil in), and you have an O ring around the bearing carrier to seal it to the lower unit housing.
