I have acquired an old Merc Kiekhaefer Canada 50 hp serial no. 1531796. Have not been able, so far, to find the yr. Messages say the no. does not exist ,Can you help? Supposedly it was running prior to storage 6 yrs ago. It appears very clean & well maintained for such an old bird. A buddy checked the compression an says it is 120 for all cyl. However he says there is water in the foot and that there is a lot of leakage from the the fuel lines, also that the powerhead might be a Chrysler.??? Is this possible ??? I would like to put this on a 56 Feathercraft Ranger this summer. Do you think it is worthwhile repairing it. His concern is that there would not be parts available if they are required. Any feedback would be appreciated.
