mercury id problem

Hi folks, I need some help to identify an engine i have bought, it is a 3 cylinder mercury (60hp i think) with a number stamped on a plate on the side of the engine marked SER 9031736 there is no number stamped on the transom mounting or anywhere else !! I hope someone can help me with the year as i need to purchase a water jacket gasket<br /><br />Thanks

Motor was manufactured in Belgium.<br /><br />My guess, is that it would be the 3cyl 650 (65hp) motor.<br /><br />1973 Serial numbers 9020074 - 9046298<br /><br />If it is, the part number for the gasket on the water jacket cover plate (by the spark plugs) is:<br /><br />27-88449 GASKET, CYLINDER BLOCK COVER <br /><br />iboats sells that gasket, and you can find it in the Marine Store. Just search for that part number.<br /><br />Hope that helps.
