Re: Mercury gear ratios

Hi Savage,
the 150 has a 2-1 set in it.
the 200 has a 1.75-1 in it.
You need a bigger prop to run it (150) on the
200. The dia. of the prop goes down as the pitch goes up so proping it out to get the same peformance may be a problem. Unless your
running a 4 blade high rake prop.

...have fun...corm

Re: Mercury gear ratios

Corm my current set up is a 150HP merc running a 24 pitch TURBO prop at 5900 rpm speed is low 60's. My plan is to rebuild a 200HP power head that I have and install it on my 150 center section/lower unit. Both power heads I believe are of the same year. I talked to a local tech and he thinks the 150 and the 200 have the same ratios for that year.I need to know for certain though that's why I gave the serial number information. Can anyone verify the ratios by serial number? THANKS.
