I have a 90 model 40hp,4cyl, Mercury outboard. I was wondering if anyone had a tip for flywheel removal, and what to expect when I remove it. Your response is appreciated
I just pulled the flywheel off of my 90 horse power johnson. I would imagine pulling the flywheel on any engine is the same. You buy a wheel puller that is adjustable there should be 3 holes in the top of the flywheel that the screws from the puller go into. Make sure you have enough threads into the flywheel. tighten the center bolt of the puller as tight as you can go. Shoot som WD40 on the shaft and than tap the top bolt in the center of the puller with a hammer, It should pop. BE PATIENT
There is a special puller that screws into center of flywheel with a center bolt do not have part# you have to order from a merc dealer. They know what to get
