An old friend of mine in his 80s has had an engine fire around the voltage regulator on his 2005 60ELPT EFI outboard
this boat is low hours and very well maintained.
I really dont like the idea of all the electrical fire I have been reading about on these outboards.
anyone that has had an electrical fire or nows of one please post it on here for me to study.
thanks

I haven't run into one on that new of a motor, yet.

Once in a great while a rectifier will short internally and start a fire, catching the wire insulation on fire.

Usually a new motor wiring harness, rectifier, starter relay, trim relays, replacing all the fire damaged parts and it's good to go again.
