Mercury controls for a 1966 Merc 650

I have a friend who just got an old boat and it has a 1966 Merc 650, 65HP on it with no controls. Looking to see what controls are compatible with it. It has power tilt and trim. looks to be a 6 pin wiring harness plug. Do I have to look for the older mercontrol control box or can I just use a later model control box and just reconfigure the wiring harness connections? Any help is greatly appreciated.
