I have connected a new commander 2000 to my 25hp Mariner outboard. This replaced mercs previous commander model from 1998. Both throttle and gear cables were put to the same settings as the earlier models cables were set.
When shifted into forward, all is good and the motor accelerates as soon as the handle is pushed forward. It also shifts into reverse as it should, however after going in gear, the handle has to travel a long way down before the engine will rev up. Is this normal? Can this be adjusted? I have the manual for it but it doesn't seem to address this issue...
