Today on the water i was running my boat nearly wide open and suddenly the engine power cut in half. I immediately cut it off and tried to restart it and after a few tries it started back up. then once in motion running at 75% or so, the same problem started again, and of coarse the engine would not idle. I do not know a whole lot about fixing engines but i took both carburaters out and clean them and sprayed any visible holes and the bowl with cleaner. dried and reassembled and boat seemed fine. then once running again, same problem, any advice?

It sounds like you are loseing spark on 2 cyls when warm, you will need to check for spark on all 4 cyls while it's acting up with a spark gap

If I can't catch it in the act, what should I do/ replace to keep this from happening?

Don't throw parts at a problem either fine it yourself or take it to a shop, ign. parts are much to expencive for that.
