The fuel line on my boat is about 3 years old and the internal clear liner of the silver Mercury brand fuel hose is separating and breaking away in chunks with slight tension. Anybody else know of this problem?

Same thing happened to my merc when it was about the same age and I have seen it on a few others, some of the dealers were collecting samples and going to send them to Mercury for feedback, the general opinion was that it was only happening in fuel lines of motors supplied since 99. I haven't followed it up so I am not sure what the feedback was.

Bob

Are you talking about the lines on the motor or the fuel lines from the tank with the bulb? My problem is with lines from the tank to the engine.

FlyBoy ,
I am refering to the silver coloured fuel line which includes the bulb and runs from your tank to the motor. The internal lines on the motor are made of a different type of material and I have not seen any problems with them apart from normal deterioration over time from age and heat.

Bob
