Got a question I used to own a 1990 bass tracker 18 foot with a 1990? black max 150 that i lost in a divorce. She is now behind on child support around 1500 dollars and i was thinking about telling them that if she gave me the boat back then she could start fresh and i would drop the 1500. Now mind you the boat has been sitting the last two years she has had it and not started or anything so it probably would need going through. Would this be a good deal?

Not if it was in sound condition when it was put up. Check compression first. Check and change gear oil. Drain and flush carbs, and fuel system on boat. Change fuel filters. I would also replace water pump, and thermostats, and would service the poppet valve. Some might say this is excessive, but this is what I would do.

Is there a cheap way of checking the compression without taking it somewhere like i could go out there and just check it?

Yeah, just bring a quality compression gauge and pull the plugs. Should be at least 120 PSI per hole. Compression should be even across cylinders as well (not more then 10% diff)

Take along a battery and a set of cables. Set the battery on the ground, Wire it to the engine, and then with your remote starter switch do the compression thing.
hope it helps
