Replaced the water pump and it looks like it is working fine. Strong Telltale flow. I am seeing water flowing out of the throttle gear hole and another small hole near the mounting bolt. This tells me there is water all inside the housing that the water pump resides. Normal?

I have an abundant amount of RTV on the lip between the exhaust and the pump side. The drive shaft seal is good. Could the rubber seal up in the exhaust housing at the pump exit/housing entrance cause water to enter the pump side lower unit housing? Thanks.

Taint no throttle controller down there. That's your shift shaft and it twists to shift. Yes the entire mid section is inundated with cooling water from the exhaust manifold cover and the engine proper, cooling water. The small holes in the midsection and LU are drain holes to prevent water retention in the mid section. The sealed oil filled gear section of the LU has no water....better not have any water. That's where your LU gear lube is used.

I realized my error in thinking after I posted this. I actually meant shift shaft. Thanks for your reply.
