Re: Mercury 90 hp low rpm full throttle

Please don't rev up in neutral. Sounds like high speed side of stator went bad. Some experts here will help soon. Please post serial number.

Re: Mercury 90 hp low rpm full throttle

I just ran into the same problem. Suddenly won't go past 3000 RPM's full throttle on a 2002 90 HP Mercury 2 stroke outboard in gear. Will sometimes begin to climb to 3300-3500, but only on surge.

Not sure what to do other than take it in. Fuel line and primer bulb look good, no gas smell. I have not tried messing with choke. It seems the problem started after hiitting a chop while throtling up, but then slowed and would not climb past 3000 rpm. Any ideas?
