mercury 9.9 pro kicker or big foot

Hi guys. Newbie here.
I?m looking to order a kicker motor and install it this winter. My boat is a 20 foot DC with a Mercury 150 with a 25 in length. I?m not sure if I should go with a 20 in Bigfoot with a Panther swing down mount or a 25 in pro kicker with power tilt and a solid fixed mount. I take this boat all over the country and I?m a little worried about the Panther mount holding up. I?m looking for suggestions.

I always bolt directly to the transom when possible, it just makes everything easier.

You may not need an XL shaft kicker, depending on the hull angle a long may work.

I have 25" transom with a 20" kicker mounted directly on the transom and it works perfect. Every application is different though

I'm buying new so I can get exactly what I want. I just don't know what I want. I'm looking at a company called salt boss that builds a fixed mount from 1/2 aluminium. The gunwale on this boat is fairly tall so that's why I'm thinking 25 in.

Do you have the option of going with a Yamaha? The Merc isn't bad and there's nothing wrong with it, but the Yamahas are a little smoother at low RPMs, so trolling is nicer.

I really haven't looked at the Yamaha other than price. The mercury is cheaper. Even the pro kicker with tilt. That and I've got a mercury on the back now.

Anybody have an opinion on the Panther mount?

If you travel a lot, go with the Merc pro kicker.
I'm not a fan of the swing down mounts.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I will go with the fixed mount and pro kicker. I know I’m on iboats forum but anyone have any sales contacts to buy the motor?

My local dealer wants $600 more than I could get it new on eBay
