Hi, I recently bought a blue band Merc 9.8 (a 1981 model I believe). The outboard used to have a 3 blade, 8 inch, 8 pitch propeller. The seller bought a new prop from his marina and they sold hima 2 blade, 9 inch, 9 pitch motor.
So how would a 2 blade, 9 inch, 9 pitch compare to the original 3 blade, 8 inch, 8 pitch. I suspect that it would gain some top end and lose some bottom end, perhaps the extra diameter to compensate for less blades?
I think it would probably run the same as the original but wanted your input, I won't have a chance to test it for many more weeks. I will be primarily using it for fishing (trolling).
Any information or comments would be appreciated. It's a great motor from what I have seen.
P.S. There is a "Troll" switch that I can't seem to get to work, to allow you to tip up the motor. HOw do you use this? I see the normal lock pin with all the configurations, but believe this Troll switch is supposed to let you slide it, then tip up the motor.
Thanks everyone.
