Mercury 850, Year unknown

Hi,

I need some help please. I dont know the year of my motor. Its a Mercury 850 model. The serial # is 7082167 . DOes anyone know the year of this?. I rewired most of it, but i need a manual to finish and double check lol. I am getting spark to all 4 but still not firing so maybe i missed something. Thanks

Are you sure? Everything I have says the 850 inline 4 was made from 1973 - 1977. And this site http://www.maxrules.com/models/Merc_model_files/60-100.html says it's a 1976. Should look lomething like this picture

Dido on the 1976 Canada Mercury.Got spark no fire try removing all spark plugs and spray some fuel mix into the cylinders install spark plugs and crank her over.If she fires you have a fuel delivery problem.Maybe a good carb cleaning, fuel pump rebuild, fuel filter clogged,inspect the fuel lines.Right behind the fuel inlet on each carb might be a screen thats clogged as well.Post back..

Looks just like that except of course 850 lol, I will try the fuel spray in the plugs and post results, I will even take a few pics for ya!

ok so i sprayed fuel into the cylinders and it almost started so that says its not getting gas. So i took the carbs apart and sure enough they were all plugged up, as i was taking the jet out of the bottom carb the bolt broke lol, So i had to order a new bolt and got new jets as well. Gonna get at it again this weekend and hopefully running.

There is one question though. What is the "blue unit almost like a condensor"(se pic) I am not sure where that is supposed to be wire to. Any ideas?
