Anyone know the pitch circle diameter of the ring of bolts top of the flywheel. I know it stupid question, but my boat is some 150miles away to measure it.

Thanks for that,
but its the actual diameter across the ring of bolts from one side of the circle to the other and I forgot to ask, how many bolts are there in the circle.

Any ideas where on the Web I could find this out. It will be a few weeks before I can get back to check my motor for the info required.

Dartboy I have a 1986 75hp. I took a look and the large circle measures 8" OC 8 bolts. The small circle measures 2" also 8 bolts. I'll look through some old manuals and let you know if I find a clue whether the motors are the same or not.

Dartboy I think we have a match. My service manual has the 75 80 and 85 the same in all the photos. There are some good ones in the section on fly wheel removal. Same thing on all procedures and in the specs. Bore, displacement, RPM range etc. In short the numbers I gave you above are correct for your motor. The large circle measures 8" OC, 8 bolts. The small circle measures 2" OC, also 8 bolts. :D

If you could Scott as my engine has only one ring of bolts, not two rings as Hank has described.

Much appreciated ;)

I will do It in afternoon tommorrow, I hope thats not to late. So whats the story of you motor? have you used it much? I had great luck with mine so far, just a couple blunders that were caused by me. I can get my boat to about 39 mph with a 17 p prop.
