So I bought my first boat the engines were knackered so I bought a second hand engine mercury 75hp.
It was cutting out when idling trying to park and in the locks given me little control but worked fine when at a constant speed.
Took it to the mechanic who said there was no thermostats in the engine.
So after new thermostat, spark plugs and carbs and fuel lines cleaned due to water in them. Needed a seal too as the carbs had water on again.
Took the boat fishing was perfect all the way out. On the way back the pitch of the engine changed, steam from the engine and cold water from the pee hole. Cut out in the lock and doesn't want to start first time..
Engine not seems worse then when I first had it.
I used my last ?1000 on fixing it but now I'm pretty stuffed.
Could it be the thermostat causing this that's why I was sold the engine without one.
Any help or advice would be amazing thanks.
The boats eaten all my money and I'm still no closer to having a full working engine.
