Mercury 75HP Force conflicting info :/

Hi Can any one help?<br />I have just bought a Merc 75 hp Force 2 stroke engine,what I wanted to know was what is the tube sticking out of the rear just above the prop? I have been told by the prev owner it was for a speedo, also I have been told by a friend he thought it was for a rev counter.<br />I have a photo of it but dontknow how to post it <br />Thanks for any help.<br />Tony

If it comes out of the front portion of the lower unit - it's for a speedo. And you outta make sure it's blown clear all the way down to the little hole at the front edge of the lower unit before you use it. They often get clogged.<br /><br />-W

Hi, just had another look my old man says its just above the plainer 2" to 3" above it of the front of the engine. Ok Thanks for the info <br />The pipe has a stop in it whats the best way to clear it? take out the stop and blow back through with water or air?<br />Thanks Tony
