I just rebuilt my 70 merc with new pistons, bearings, and a gasket set.
the engine previously had a bad top connecting rod big end bearing failure. once in 2006 and again in 2015.
after starting it up it knocked loudly and removing the carbs and reeds I was able to see the top bearing is very slack.
I'm going to measure the connecting rod, but I can see that the crankshaft's race is squishing out the sides
are there oversize bearing available?
can I use another crankshaft with a different part # from the same era 1987-1992 merc 70 ....
What are my options?
