Re: Mercury 650

Oh and are these motors still any good? I'm not concerned whether or not that I can sell it for a million dollars like everyone else is doing, all I want is to know if I can get parts and if It might still be a decent reliable motor.

Hey Woohoo,<br />First of all...what year is your 650? I have a 1964 and we ski and tube with it regularly. Mine runs well and I think it is going to last a long time. I believe if it is an earlier model the controls are on the outside of the motor and as you get into the seventies they go internal or under the cover. The shifter shaft rotates the same way for both vintages but the cables move in opposite directions to obtain the same result. That would be what I would watch out for.

Re: Mercury 650

I have controls for a 1961-1962 Merc 800 that should fit. Someone on the forum should be able to confirm this. They are in good working condition and include key switch & key. The warmup lever is missing but that does not effect the functionality of the controls. It includes the wiring harness to the engine. Can send a pic if you want. If interested email me at foxjohnc@comcast.net.
