I need some help with my Mercury 60hp 4 stroke efi. It is leaking gas from what looks to be the fuel pump. If I don’t get something right, please tell me. I normally used to working on 2 stroke outboards and I’m not that familiar with these new four stroke efis. I took it out today and it would stay at 4000 rpm’s forever and then it would finally rev up and get on plane. I thought it was a fuel problem. This outboard has less than 25 hours on it and it’s practically brand new. I just serviced it a couple weeks ago. The fuel filter is clean and all the lines are good but when I squeeze the primer bulb it shoots gas out of what looks to be the fuel pump. All help is appreciated. Whatever is leaking gas needs to be replaced. If it's that new, is it not under warranty?

If it’s any sort of recent model…it’s likely an issue in the vst/FSM. This is where the fuel pump and reservoir is. Some of them have a vent on top that can throw fuel out it, when there is an issue with the pump and/or it’s seals within.
